Silverball has quickly found form through two competitive starts since returning to racing this season, and trainer Chris Waller is very confident the gelding is ready for a return to the winner’s circle in Saturday’s 2015 Group 3 Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens.
Silverball has been included in nominations for races like the Group 1 The Metropolitan (2400m) in Sydney this time, and began his campaign a credible sixth in the talent-rich Canterbury Hurlstone RSL Handicap (1400m) before progressing to a close second in the Listed Premier’s Cup (1800m) a fortnight ago.
Waller is thrilled to have confirmed Brenton Avdulla to take the ride on Silverball in the 2015 Kingston Town Stakes and is confident the combination will prove a winning one come Race 2 at Rosehill on Saturday.
“Brenton Avdulla won on him last time and what a great win that was,” Waller said.
“This is the same distance and the same track and he is ready to go third-up from a spell.
“From barrier four he should get a lovely run and he will be one of our better bets of the day.”
Posting six wins and a further seven minors through 23 career starts so far, Silverball began her career under the guidance of French trainer Richard Chotard in 2011; passing through two other European stables before arriving in Waller’s care prior this year.
Debuting in Australia for second in the Action’s Calling @ TAB BM90 (1500m) on March 14th, the Kahyasi won his next two starts at Warwick Farm and Flemington respectively; running a luckless fourth in the Peter Armytage Handicap (1700m) before taking out the Listed Lord Mayors Cup (2000m) by close to three lengths on May 9th.
